Asus Zenfone 2 expands fraternity

Actually, the title must have been “The Zenfone 2 just got more confusing“. But then, ill spare the theatrics and jump right to the devices. Asus launched 2 new primary variants in the Zenfone 2 lineup. The Zenfone 2 Deluxe and Zenfone 2 Laser. The Deluxe is same as the Zenfone 2, but it has got a new contemporary design. The original Zenfone 2 was primarily available in brush metal finish plastic back, while the Deluxe variants will have a polygonal design at the back. It is what Asus calls as the crystal miracle. The Zenfone 2 still retains all the specifications for the ZenFone 2. It has a 5.5 inch full HD screen protected by corning gorilla glass 3. It is powered by Intel Atom chipsets Z3560 and Z3580. Both the variants have 4 GB RAM and you get 64 GB and 128 GB variants. So that is basically 4 variants of the Zenfone 2 Deluxe. All 4 have expandable storage of upto 128 GB and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is powered by a 3000 mAh battery along with Boostmaster technology for fast charging. The Deluxe has 13 MP primary camera and 5 MP front facing shooter. The price of ZenFone 2 Deluxe starts from Rs 22999 and we are yet to get details regarding the price of the all the 4 variants.

The next new entrant in the Zenfone 2 family is the Zenfone 2 Laser. The Zenfone 2 Laser is a step down in terms of hardware specifications. It has a 5 inch 720p display, but protected by corning gorilla glass 4. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 and has 2GB of RAM. It comes in 8 GB or 16 GB internal memory variants. It is powered by 2070 mAh or 2400 mAh battery. While these specifications are way below its big brothers, the Zenfone 2 Laser’s USP is its camera. It has a 13 MP rear camera and as the name indicates, the camera is assisted by Laser Autofocus. The camera has a 5 lens element and a wide f/2.0 aperture. The front facing 2MP camera also has f/2.0 aperture. The Laser focus helps in getting a quick focus on the subject in less that 0.3 seconds. Assisted by Asus’ home grown pixel master technology, the camera can spike up the resolution of the photos to a max of 52 MP using the super resolution mode. We have seen Laser autofocus technology in high end flagships like the LG G Flex or the LG G3/G4. At a starting price of Rs 9999, the Zenfone 2 Laser is the cheapest mobile with Laser Autofocus.
