Volvo announce On Call application to control car ICE using smart watch
Controlling in-car entertainment using smartphone is such an old way. Controlling the same using a smart watch, that’s unique. Volvo Cars have announced that using their On Call smart application, users can control settings, lock/unlock, located and utilize many other Volvo services using their watch. As of now, the application can be installed on Apple Watch or Android Wear devices.
“Volvo On Call is an app that allows you to literally take control over everyday elements in your Volvo. You can set heater timings for those cold and frosty mornings or cool down your car in hot weather, check your fuel level and mileage, or time to next service. It even helps you to locate your car in a crowded parking garage,” explains David Holecek, Director Connected Products and Services at Volvo Cars.
“In only a few years we have moved from a safety and security related in-car feature to a solution that allows the driver to stay connected with their car and provides many new benefits to support their everyday requirements,” concluded Sofia Wessman, Manager Volvo On Call at Volvo Cars.
Volvo On Call application is also compatible with iPad (native app), Windows Phone (with voice control using Cortana) and will get ‘send-to-car’ capabilities for navigation in next app update. The On Call application is one of the first car telematics systems in the world and provides safety/security/tracking services in case of accident or theft or break down when SIM car is installed in the car. Now, the application provides features like remote locking, fuel level indicator, find my car etc.
