Windows Hello :Biometric Security to Apps and Microsoft Edge

Windows Hello is a new way to unlock your Windows devices. You can unlock your ‘supported’ Windows 10 devices using biometrics like facial recognition, iris scan, fingerprint recognition. With anniversary update, you get to access to paired applications and protected websites on Microsoft Edge browser using biometric authentication. No more typing of  long couplex and confusing passwords day in day out.

Windows Ink : Pen is mightier than the finger

With Surface Pro 4 and iPad Pro, Microsoft and Apple showed the power of a pen (stylus/pencil). The future is indeed bright again for this dying technology. With Windows Ink, users can write on sticky notes, charts, graphs and on a lot more using a Pen. Windows Ink stays active even when the device is locked so you can write down quick notes rom the lock screen without unlocking the device.

The new ink workspace has a section where you can access suggested application (users are recommended the best pen app suited to the need, the most popular pen apps, top rated pen apps etc).

Powerful Cortana, now with applications

With the anniversary update, users get to use nearly a thousand Cortana enabled applications. Cortana can be set to ‘always on’ so that you can avail Curtana’s help before you login. You can ask curtana to set remainder, play music, create notes etc. Cortona will also pro-actively show suggestions (arrange transportation, buy lunch etc).

Xbox One to get UWP

Windows 10 Anniversary update brings Universal Web Apps to Xbox One. Yes, all those apps that you see on Windows 10 desktop OS (modern UI apps) will soon be available on Xbox One too. Also, game developers get full access to the open ecosystem to bring intuitive apps to Xbox One. Developers can even turn the Xbox One into a developer kit with Xbox Dev Mode.

“Our goal is for Windows to be the best platform for all developers. And we are so proud of the great things our partners are doing on top of this platform. We’re excited about new Universal Windows Platform apps from Twitter, Uber, King, Disney, Wargaming Group, Square Enix, Yahoo, and WWE – with new apps on the way from Bank of America, Starbucks, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. Facebook will also be bringing the Facebook Audience Network SDK and App Install Ads to the Universal Windows Platform – enabling 3 million Facebook advertisers to reach Windows 10 customers later this year. With so many great apps coming to Windows 10, the Windows Store has already received over 5 billion visits.” – Microsoft

Easy to deploy Windows for Modern Classroom

Teachers making use of modern classroom can employ/setup student PCs in just 3 steps. Microsoft is also bringing new tools to help educators get up and get running. Also, with the update, it takes just 26 seconds for first login and subsequent logins take 6 seconds so students don’t have to wait for login screen while the class commences. The new ‘Take a Test’ app creates a browser-based, locked-down environment for more secure, online assessments.

Windows 10 Education

There are many more small and other features and many security enhancements but the best of all for us would be the Hello and Ink! Which one would be your favorite feature coming up in Anniversary update?
