HUAWEI announces MediaPad X1, M1 tablets and B1 talkband

Huawei MediaPad X1 is the worlds slimmest 7″ LTE enabled tablet (or in Huawei’s terms, a phablet) and is unvieled at the mobile world congress 2014 event. Come March, this new tablet will be avialable in China, Russia, Western Europe, the Middle East, Japan and Latin America. Huawei MediaPad M1 on the other hand is an 8″ midrange tablet that is heading to China in March and then to Europe, Russia, the Middle East, China, Japan, Asia Pacific, Australia and Latin America from Q1 2014.

HUAWEI MediaPad X1

X1 is powered by 1.6GHz quad core CPu and runs 4.2 version of Android which, in our option, is a bummer as this is a year old variant and this tablet deserves KitKat (Android 4.4). X1 is made of full aluminum alloy unibody, is just 7.18mm thin and weight 239 grams. The 7″ display is FullHD LTPS panel and we expect nothing less than gorgeous screen quality (1200 x1920 pixel resolution).  X1 comes with a non user replaceable 5000mAh battery that provides 21 days of standby time. There is a 13mp camera with Sony Exmor R BSI sensor on the back and a 5mp camera on the front side. This is the same module that is used in just announced Ascend G6 smartphone and it does have lot of potential (self-focus tips, preview screen, 10-level auto-facial enhancement, voice-activated hands-free capture, Voice Photo function etc).

HUAWEI MediaPad M1

HUAWEI MediaPad M1 (4G LTE equipped) comes with 800×1280 pixel IPS panel HD display, 2x front facing speakers and microphones and is powered by a 1.6GHz quad core processor. 4800mAh battery can do 8 hour video playback on a single full charge. M1 has alumium body and weight 329 grams, is only 7.9mm thin. There is a 1mp front facing camera while rear facing camera has a 5mp sensor.

“We’re excited to unveil our new 4G LTE-enabled MediaPads which, together with HUAWEI TalkBand B1, deliver the essential pillars of happiness – health, connection to family, contact with friends and access to work – without boundaries,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “Huawei’s culture of innovation places us in prime position to develop devices that bring people the benefits and joy of technology through 4G LTE connectivity.”

HUAWEI TalkBand B1

Huawei has also announced TalkBand B1. This new wristband connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.1, supports up to 7 hours of calls. There is a 1.4-inch flexible OLED display that shows notifications and  supports Android 2.3+ and iOS 5.0+ compatible devices. B1 talkband can initiate sync via NFC. B1 can also be used as a fitness trackers to track activity time, progress, steps taken, miles covered and calories buned, use to record sleep duration and quality and the built in smart alarm and nap functions help users to rest properly. B1 band weighs 26 grams and is 14.6mm thin. There is a 9.4 gram removable earpiece and the 90mAh battery lasts for six days and charges in two hours (via USB connector) M1 will be avialable from Q1 2014 in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, China, Japan, Asia Pacific, Australia and Latin America.
