Android december distro share : KitKat up slightly, JellyBean stays at the top again

Android developers site has renewed the Android platform distribution numbers and KitKat could only manage to increase share by 3.7%, now has 33.9% marketshare and JellyBean, with 48.7% (down from 50.9%) of marketshare still holds massive chunk of share. Its a good sign though that 4.x variants (ICS + JB+ KK) hold more than 80% of share. Lollipop, released this year, is yet to make it to this table. Though Motorola and LG were quick in updating their phones to Lollipop, due to extremely slow adoption rate from other companies, it may take a while for Lollipop to make impact on the table.

OpenGL 2.0 is holding 2/3rds of marketshare while OpenGL 3.0 has 25.3% or marketshare. Coming to display sizes, hdpi  (240 dpi)+ Normal screen size (3.5″ to 4.5″) has 37.8% of marketshare followed by xhdpi (480dpi) display, with 20% of share. This shows that more and more buyers are opting for displays with high resolution and pixel density.
