SwiftKey Makes Premium Themes Available For Free

SwiftKey, one of the most popular third party keyboard app on Android just released an update that brings a redesigned hub and premium themes for free. The app, now owned by Microsoft, is now offering all of its premium themes collections for free to all Android and iOS users. You don’t have to purchase any theme or a theme pack anymore to customize SwiftKey better than ever before.

SwiftKey Themes free

SwiftKey used to be a paid app before the company pivoted and offered the keyboard and a few basic themes for free. You could purchase individual themes or theme packs for a dollar or so. However, after being acquired by Microsoft a few months ago, the company has made all of its themes available to everyone for free. That’s right – hundreds of paid themes are now available for free. Not just that, the app developers also released another theme pack, so it’s not like they will be abandoning themes.

That being said, there is no news of any monetization strategy. There are two arguments to this – the Microsoft acquisition means that SwiftKey does not have to push its users to pay money for themes. Or, it could also mean that the user data will be used by the company. It could be both as well.

In addition to the above, SwiftKey has also updated its hub with a new design. The app now has transliteration support for Hindi and Gujrati as well. Here’s the full changelog:

  • Swipe the hamburger menu to the left of the predictions to find our newly refreshed Hub including: SwiftKey Clipboard, Shortcuts, and Incognito mode.
  • Introducing transliteration for Hindi and Gujarati – now we’ll predict and correct from Latin characters into script
  • Five new languages: Tibetan, Swiss German, Yakut, Low German (Plattdüütsch) & Kurdish (Kurmanji),
  • Ongoing tweaks and improvements for a better typing experience
