Facebook Lite is a 252 KB app for low-end phones

Facebook has released an optimized version of the eBuddy app it acquired a few months ago. The app, called Facebook Lite, is tiny – at 252 KB, it gives you access to most of the features that the original Facebook app offers. However, the UI is a bit rough ‘round the edges, but that should not come as a surprise when the app is so tiny.

For all intents and purposes, this is merely a web-wrapper of an optimized version of the mobile site, but it also gives you access to notifications, so there’s that. Battery drain should be minimal, unlike the original app which constantly polls for location data among other things.

This should also bring cheer to users with budget/low-end phones, saving precious internal memory that’s often very limited in that range.

The app is free and is available on the Play Store for download.
